Mental illness hit 1 in 5 adults in the United States last year

(News August) – a new survey finds that 20 percent of adults United States — more than 45 million experienced mental illness in the past year.

In General 4.8 percent (13 million people) suffer from serious mental illness, 8.4 million had serious thoughts of suicide, 2.2 million made suicide plans and one million attempted suicide, according to the 2008 national survey on drug use and health.
